Keema or Qeema or Kheema is a traditional South Asian meat dish. The word may be borrowed from Greek χυμὸς and originally meant minced meat. It is typically minced mutton curry with peas or potatoes. This isn't minced mutton, but not far off it.
I do like a good Keema curry, I think it is a dish that can be done at any time. My recipe below:
1 large onion , chopped
1 garlic cloves, chopped
4cm piece ginger, grated or ground I think would work just as well
Mince Lamb (depends on how many you are serving for) I used 250g for 2 people
2 tbsp garam masala
2 tsp turmeric
1 can chopped tomatoes
Chop the onion, garlic, ginger together in a food processor or by hand up to you. Heat the oil in a large frying pan and fry the mixture until it becomes very fragrant. Add the mince and fry until it begins to brown, stirring to break up any lumps.
Add the spices and fry for 1 min. Add the tomatoes and bring to a simmer, add some salt and a good grind of black pepper. Add a splash of water if you need to, then cook the mixture for 30 mins. Add the frozen peas and cook for 5 mins.
It is up to you what you serve it with. I just boiled rice for 15 minutes.
